Multiple criteria optimization of contemporary logistics distribution network problems

چکیده
In the contemporary customer-driven supply chain, maximization of customer service plays an equally important role as minimization of costs for a company to retain and increase its competitiveness. This article develops a multiple-criteria optimization approach, combining the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and an integer linear programming (ILP) model, to aid the design of an optimal logistics distribution network. The proposed approach outperforms traditional cost-based optimization techniques because it considers both quantitative and qualitative factors and also aims at maximizing the benefits of deliverer and customers. In the approach, the AHP is used to determine the relative importance weightings or priorities of alternative warehouses with respect to some critical customer-oriented criteria. The results of AHP prioritization are utilized as the input of the ILP model, the objective of which is to select the best warehouses at the lowest possible cost. In this article, two commercial packages are used: including Expert Choice and LINDO. OR Insight (2010) 23, 27–43. doi:10.1057/ori.2009.7

An optimization model for management of empty containers in distribution network of a logistics company under uncertainty
In transportation via containers, unbalanced movement of loaded containers forces shipping companies to reposition empty containers. This study addresses the problem of empty container repositioning (ECR) in the distribution network of a European logistics company, where some restrictions impose decision making in an uncertain environment. The problem involves dispatching empty contain...
متن کاملMulti-criteria logistics distribution network design using SAS/OR
This paper explores the use of the optimization procedures in SAS/OR software with application to the contemporary logistics distribution network design using an integrated multiple criteria decision making approach. Unlike the traditional optimization techniques, the proposed approach, combining analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and goal programming (GP), considers both quantitative and qualita...
متن کاملA Benders Decomposition Method to Solve an Integrated Logistics Network Designing Problem with Multiple Capacities
In this paper, a new model is proposed for the integrated logistics network designing problem. In many research papers in this area, it is assumed that there is only one option for the capacity of each facility in the network. However, this is not a realistic assumption because generally there may be many possible options for the capacity of the facility that is being established. Usually the c...
متن کاملA robust optimization model for distribution and evacuation in the disaster response phase
Natural disasters, such as earthquakes, affect thousands of people and can cause enormous financial loss. Therefore, an efficient response immediately following a natural disaster is vital to minimize the aforementioned negative effects. This research paper presents a network design model for humanitarian logistics which will assist in location and allocation decisions for multiple disaster per...
متن کاملA Modified Discreet Particle Swarm Optimization for a Multi-level Emergency Supplies Distribution Network
Currently, the research of emergency supplies distribution and decision models mostly focus on deterministic models and exact algorithm. A few of studies have been done on the multi-level distribution network and matheuristic algorithm. In this paper, random processes theory is adopted to establish emergency supplies distribution and decision model for multi-level network. By analyzing the char...
